Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion

The Law Enforcement Assisted Diversion (LEAD) is a program developed by the Robeson County Sheriff’s Office and the Robeson County District Attorney’s Office to address offenders who have a substance misuse disorder and who repeatedly engage in low-level criminal activity. LEAD allows law enforcement officers to redirect low-level offenders to community-based programs and services. Offenders in this program are evaluated and receive treatment for substance use disorders followed by placement into rehabilitative housing and job placement or training. The LEAD program is committed to improving public safety by diverting these individuals to appropriate services and treating the underlying substance misuse disorder that influences their criminal behavior.
